UTEC is the industry-leader
in turnkey underground electric transmission construction,
maintenance and emergency response services nationwide.

Successfully completed the longest single cable pull for a pipe-type cable system (7,500') through a Horizontal Directional Drilled conduit under the Elizabeth River in Norfolk, VA.

From Mt. Pleasant to Isle of Palms in South Carolina, UTEC installed a six-mile-long cable system under the bay utilizing HDD technology with water based platforms to aid the water splicing operations.

In Charleston, SC UTEC installed two new high voltage transmission lines under the Cooper River to a new substation in Mt. Pleasant.  This was accomplished in a very environmentally sensitive, small and restricted area in the city.

In Louisville, Kentucky UTEC installed parallel circuits of a pipe-type cable system and XLPE system through the city's downtown and along the banks of the Ohio River. We utilized large, open trench and HDD technology in difficult working conditions and a high water table to complete the project on-time and on-budget.

In a large East Coast metropolitan area, UTEC completed one 9.5 mile long install of a new underground high voltage system that contained two adjoining pipe systems in the same trench. This was done in highly congested city streets, during day and night hours. This was only one system among over 50 miles of new installations done simultaneously including the reconducting of existing pipe-type cable systems. UTEC had splice crews working around the clock for over a year to complete the project on-time and on-budget.
